Kim Edwards: \’kim ‘ed-wərdz\ biographical name c. 1987
1: loves Jesus the Christ more than anything else
2: singer-songwriter-piano chick
3: practically a native Pennsylvanian (minus the first 4 months of her life in Korea)

What got you started playing piano and singing?
When I was about 4 years old, a young concert pianist named Bryan Popin came to my church and blew everyone away with his playing. He was phenomenal, and I wanted to be like him.

As for singing, it wasn’t until I toured with the American Christian Youth Chorale in the summer of 2003 that I even gained the confidence to sing. The directors, Dr. & Mrs. Goida, taught me so much about singing and I really owe it to them for bringing me out of my shell.

When did you start writing songs?
I wrote my first instrumental song on piano when I was 8, but I was 15 when I wrote my first song with music and lyrics.

What musicians have influenced your style?
Nichole Nordeman, Coldplay, Billy Joel, the Beatles, a lot of classical composers, and others, I’m sure…but definitely Nichole Nordeman. She was probably my biggest influence when I first started writing.

What advice would you give your 10-year-old self?
Practice piano!  And buy stock in Google.

Favorite bands/musical artists: Debussey, Chopin, the Beach Boys, Coldplay, Regina Spektor, Celine Dion, Josh Groban, Bethany Dillon, Rebecca St. James, Nichole Nordeman, The Carpenters, Vanessa Mae, the list goes on and on…(and changes quite frequently)

Favorite food: pork lo mein (with extra soy sauce)…it’s like manna from heaven

Favorite piece of clothing in your wardrobe: Right now, I’m in love with my charcoal gray, long woolen overcoat.  I look for reasons to go out just so I can wear it!  And I bought it on sale, which increases my love for it even more. :)

Favorite childhood cartoon: old-school Looney Tunes & Merry Melodies, baby!

Favorite non-board game: badminton (I have this secret desire to one day play badminton in the Olympics…which I guess is not so secret anymore)

Have you ever watched one movie so much that you memorized it completely? Yes…I used to be able to quote “That Thing You Do!” backwards in my sleep

What was your ambition as a child? to be an archaeologist, baseball player, journalist…and taller

If you were a vegetable, what would you be? Broccoli. I’d be a miniature green tree, the ultimate coolness in vegetable social circles.

What’s the best job you’ve ever had? Hands down, it was being an extra in “Transformers 2″. I got to run around, scream, be in a movie AND get paid for it!

Is there anyone you would like to meet? actress Jodi Benson; my sponsor child in Africa
